City preparing for influx of visitors for weekend events

April 16,2024

The City of Enterprise is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors for weekend events that will draw crowds from the Wiregrass and beyond.

The 40th annual All In Credit Union Car, Truck, RV & Boat sale runs Thursday through Saturday at the Enterprise Civic Center and the 50th Anniversary of the Piney Woods Arts Festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday on the Enterprise State Community College (ESCC) campus.

Tammy Doerer, Director of Tourism and Community Relations, said she hopes visitors and residents take this opportunity to explore all Enterprise has to offer.

“We are excited to welcome everyone to Enterprise, whether they are in the market for a new vehicle at the All In Credit Union Sale or arts and crafts from the annual Piney Woods Arts Festival,” Doerer said. “In addition to these two high profile events, there’s plenty to see, do, and enjoy here in Enterprise. The Farmers Market will be open Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. with lots of farm-fresh produce, crafts and other homemade items. We also encourage everyone to take a stroll along Main Street in downtown Enterprise. Take your photo with the iconic Boll Weevil Monument. Take your picture with the Weevils along Weevil Way. Visit one of our parks or play on the new pickleball courts. When you’re ready for a break from shopping or playing, there are local restaurants that are unique to Enterprise.”

City departments are preparing for the expected increase in traffic, both figuratively and literally.  Members of the city’s Public Works teams have helped prepare parking areas at the Enterprise Civic Center and will provide additional garbage collection bins for both events.  Highway 167, which is in the final stages of a multi-million-dollar Alabama Department of Transportation widening project, is nearing completion, but will still be lined with orange barrels. ESCC is also in the midst of on campus construction, which has closed one parking lot. Drivers are encouraged to use caution and to be aware of more foot traffic near both events. Enterprise Police Department will be on site for security at both events.

“Safety is a top priority anytime you have an event, especially one that’s going to draw a crowd,” Enterprise Fire Chief Christopher Davis said. “Right now, the weather looks great for this weekend, but we all know the weather can be unpredictable. We encourage everyone to be weather aware and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.”

Davis also reminded citizens of the importance of hydration, as the temperatures are expected to be in the 80s. Enterprise Fire Department personnel will also assist with any medical emergencies, if needed.

The All In Credit Union Car, Truck, RV & Boat sale is from 8 a.m. to dark Thursday- Saturday. Piney Woods Arts Festival is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
