City of Enterprise Benefits Package
The City of Enterprise provides an excellent benefits package for eligible employees, administered by the Human Resources Department. The benefits package includes paid annual and sick leave, group health, dental, and life insurance.

The city offers retirement with the Retirement Systems of Alabama, Internal Revenue Code 401(a), and a deferred compensation plan, Internal Revenue Code Section 457 - better known as RSA-1. The city offers a Deferred Compensation Plan, Internal Revenue Code Section 125 - better known as a Cafeteria Plan. In addition, the City offers several voluntary insurances including but not limited to AFLAC, National Security, Humana Comp Benefits, Standard, Colonial, Cotton States, and direct deposit.

  • Annual Leave
    • Accruals: Each full-time employee will accrue 80 hours of annual leave per year, which shall be based upon completion of the first year of employment. On each full-time employee's 10th year of service, annual leave will begin to accrue at the rate of 120 hours per year. Annual leave is accrued on the 1st day of the employee's anniversary month.
    • Maximum Accruals: Employees completing up to 10 years of service may accrue up to 160 hours of annual leave. Employees completing more than 10 years of service my accrue up to 240 hours of annual leave.
  • Sick Leave
    • Accruals: Each full-time employee shall accrue sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month, after one month of employment. Each Permanent Part Time employee shall accrue sick leave at the rate of one day for each 173 hours worked.
    • Maximum accrual: Employees may accrue up to and including to a maximum of 480 hours.

    • The following paid holidays are observed by the City of Enterprise:

      • Memorial Day
      • Juneteenth 
      • Independence Day
      • Labor Day
      • Columbus Day
      • Veterans Day
      • Thanksgiving Day and following day
      • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
      • Other days as City Council proclaims
    • When a holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, the holiday shall be observed on the following Monday, except for Veterans Day. If Veterans Day falls on Saturday, the holiday shall be observed on the preceding Friday; if it falls on Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday.

  • Retirement / Deferred Compensation (RSA-1) (PDF)
    • The Employee Retirement System (ERS) was established in 1945 to provide benefits to state employees, state police, and on an elective basis to qualified persons of cities, towns, and quasi-public organizations. The ERS Board of Control is responsible for management and administration of the ERS. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The ERS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Group Health Insurance (PDF)
    • The Local Government Health Insurance Plan (LGHIP) is a self-insured group health insurance program funded from the premiums of the participating local government units and their subscribers. LGHIP provides group health insurance for employees of local government units, certain organizations and associations.
  • Group Life Insurance
    • The City provides a $10,000 life insurance policy to all full-time employees at no cost to the employee through Sunday Life of Canada.
