First Black Enterprise Mayor speaks at Dothan’s Beverlye Intermediate School

Mayor William E. “Bill” Cooper talked to several hundred third through sixth graders at Dothan’s Beverlye Intermediate School Feb. 26 as part of the Dothan City Schools Black History Month celebration. Cooper and former Dothan Fire Chief Sam Crawford were keynote speakers at the program. Principal James Williams and program director Brandi Copeland said the men were considered history-makers, Cooper as the first black mayor of Enterprise and Crawford as the first black fire chief of the Dothan Fire Department. Both men shared advice on how to overcome obstacles and achieve success.
