The 18th annual Alabama Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is underway, giving shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain weather preparedness items without sales tax.
The sales tax holiday runs from 12:01 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, to midnight Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023.
“People tend to wait until disaster strikes to get emergency supplies,” Enterprise Mayor William E. Cooper said. “This sales tax holiday helps our residents prepare their emergency kits and be ready before something happens.”
The City of Enterprise adopted a resolution to participate at the Nov. 15, 2022, City Council meeting. Some of the items eligible for sales tax exemption are batteries, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, first aid kits, portable generators and power cords.
