Investigators: Downtown Enterprise building fire ruled accidental

Downtown fire businesses boarded up

Early Sunday morning, a passerby called 9-1-1 to report smoke coming from the corner of College and Main.

Once on scene, firefighters began gaining entry to the buildings. The primary concern was to stop the spread of the fire and focus on the residential building. By mid-afternoon, the active fire was contained.

Crews are still monitoring for hot spots and remain on scene out of an abundance of caution.

On Monday, investigators from the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted the Enterprise Fire Department to determine the cause.

From the evidence reviewed, investigators believe the fire started near the kiln in the All About Art building and the fire was accidental.
