Construction will begin this week on Alabama Highway 167 in an effort to move traffic more efficiently.
The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) project, from Boll Weevil Circle to Salem Road, includes adding an additional lane in each direction as well as a center turn lane. Some closures may occur during construction for the safety of the workers. One lane in each direction should remain open through the majority of the project, according to a release from ALDOT. As always, motorists are advised to plan accordingly for delays and to be mindful of people and equipment in the work zone.
The roughly $13 million contract was awarded to S.A. Graham Company, Inc., out of Brundidge. The project is expected to be complete by Fall 2024.
