[ARCHIVED] Lee Ann Swartz sworn in as city's first chief financial officer

wMayor and LeeAnn Swartz

Lee Ann Swartz became the first City of Enterprise Chief Financial Officer when she was sworn in to office April 6 at the City Council meeting by Mayor William E. Cooper. Cooper had recommended Swartz to council members for appointment to the position, which had previously been called treasurer.

The Mayor recommended Swartz after considering a number of candidates for the job. The position of CFO was created as a result of some organizational changes made by the council within the finance department during recent months. Swartz also serves as director of the finance and revenue departments.

wLeeAnn Schwartz with Council 2A graduate of the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned a B.A. in Business Administration majoring in accounting, Swartz earned a Master’s Degree in accounting, with a concentration in auditing, from Kaplan University.

She has extensive job experience in accounting, both in the United States and in Germany, while her husband was stationed overseas. The Certified Public Accountant came to the City of Enterprise from McClintock, Nelson and Associates, where her work focus was on governmental and not-for-profit auditing.

“Coming to us from one of the most prestigious accounting firms in our area, LeeAnn had an outstanding resume’. She came highly recommended and we feel fortunate that we were able to bring her on board our city team,” Cooper said of the latest member of the City of Enterprise employee team.

“As our city budget continues to grow, so do the demands in our financial department. LeeAnn has the most up-to-date training in policies and procedures in financial planning and budgeting,” he said. “We believe that with those skills, combined with her extensive experience as a CPA, LeeAnn is going to help us meet the increasing demands of our city’s financial operation and help us meet our goals for the future of this great city.”

In the accompanying photo, Swartz is congratulated by City Council members, from left, Scotty Johnson, Greg Padgett, Sonya Rich, Mayor Bill Cooper, Turner Townsend and Eugene Goolsby.
