Before Hiring a Contractor

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CONTRACTORS FOR CITIZENS

The City of Enterprise Revenue Department is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding contractors and other service type businesses offering their services in Enterprise. (334) 348-2674, M-F, 7:30a.m. – 4:30p.m.

Each contractor/service/business needs a City of Enterprise business license. We do not require insurance or bonds for contractors. You can always ask the contractor to show proof of licensing. Please be aware of the following Alabama requirements:

• Roofing contracts of more than $2,500 (labor & materials) require a Roofing Certification from the ALABAMA Board of Homebuilders or call (334) 242-2230. DO's and DON'Ts of Hiring a Contractor. 

• Home repair or install contracts of more than $10,000 (labor & materials) require an ALABAMA Homebuilders Licensure Certificate or call (334) 242-2230. DOs and DON'Ts of Hiring a Contractor.

• Commercial construction and repairs if the contract is more than $50,000 ($5,000 for swimming pools) labor & materials require an ALABAMA Licensing Board for General Contractors Certification or call (334) 272-5030. 

• Plumbing contracts require MASTER certification from the ALABAMA Plumbers Board or call (205) 945-4857. Tips of hiring a plumbing or gas fitting contractor.
