Field Training Officer Program

The Enterprise Police Department's Field Training Officer (FTO) Unit consists of the Field Training Commander, Assistant Field Training Commander, and four Field Training Officers. The FTO Unit is responsible for ensuring that newly hired officers are sufficiently trained and are developed into competent solo officers. This is accomplished by offering the recruit a program that is formalized, structured, and in a standardized format.

Field Training OfficersPatrol Functions

After completing the Basic Police Academy, the recruit enters into the 12 week Field Training Program, where they are introduced to the fieldwork of a Patrol Officer. They are introduced to numerous patrol functions such as:

  • Crime Scene Response
  • Criminal Patrol
  • Domestic Violence Calls
  • Traffic Collision Investigations
  • Traffic Stops

The FTO remains with the recruit during these calls and ensures that their responses and handling of the calls is held to the highest standard for the citizens of the City of Enterprise.
