EFD to begin yearly hydrant maintenance

May 01,2024

Enterprise Fire Department personnel are going hydrant by hydrant through the city as part of yearly maintenance.

More than 1500 hydrants will be inspected to ensure they are in good working order and easily accessible for emergency personnel.

“We do not anticipate any disruption to the citizens of Enterprise or their water service as part of this work,” Enterprise Fire Chief Christopher Davis said. “This maintenance is performed annually to help keep our citizens and community safe.”

Chief Davis encouraged citizens to keep an eye out for the firefighters and allow them plenty of room to work.

“In some cases, we may be painting the hydrants to make them more visible, or we may have to clear out some vegetation to prevent any obstructions. It’s really a case-by-case basis. We just ask for the public’s patience and help in keeping the firefighters safe when they are working along the roadways.”
